Australian Wool Innovation Limited (AWI) announces:
The Australian Wool Market finished the week 0.2 percent higher, on average, at sales in Newcastle, Melbourne and Fremantle this week.
The AWEX EMI increased by 1¢ (+0.1 percent) ending the week at 746¢/kg clean. This reflected an increase of 2¢ (+0.3 percent) in the North and no change in the South, with their corresponding Regional Indicators finishing the week at 771¢ and 725¢ clean respectively The Western Indicator increased by 3¢ (+0.4 percent) finishing the week at 724¢/kg clean.
Australian Wool Innovation Limited (AWI) adds 51,799 bales were on offer (compared with 47,379 last week), of which 10.1 percent were passed in. Pass in rates for Merino fleece and skirtings were 9.5 percent and 10.7 percent respectively. 1,357 bales (2.6 percent) were withdrawn prior to sale and re-offered wools made up 10.1 percent of this week's offering.
The US exchange rate was 0.77¢ lower on Monday when compared with the last selling day. It increased by 0.21¢ on Tuesday, by 0.12¢ on Wednesday however decreased by 0.14¢ on Thursday to close at 76.16¢, down 0.58¢ (-0.8 percent) since the last sale.
The exchange rate against the Euro decreased by 0.08 Euro cents ( 0.1 percent) to close at 59.63 Euro cents on Thursday night.
When looked at in other currencies, the AWEX EMI decreased by 4¢ in US terms and remained the same in Euro terms when compared with the previous sale. This was the first fall in US terms since sales resumed after the break.
