Natural fibres make a splash at US Outdoor Clothing Show

Outdoor Retailer featured apparel from underwear like singlets, camisoles, bras and thongs through to heavy duty outerwear for adventure trail running and cross country ski-ing. Many of the items are based on natural fibres.
Sportwool has been used by elite athletes in Australia since it was a featured fabric in the apparel of the 2000 Australian Olympic team. Sportwool jersey fabric was successfully supplied by Woolmark on a commercial basis to several AFL football teams and the Australian Cricket team and working in conjunction with Fila, Sportwool became the fabric of choice for all Australian and State cricket team uniforms between 1998 and 2005.
Now Sportwool can be found internationally in the collections of Macpac, Mammut, Adidas and Turtle Creek just to name a few.
But, as Brenda McGahan says, it's the US leisure and active wear markets that are the real potential for Sportwool “It's great to see the growing numbers of active and leisurewear manufacturers who are using wool in their ranges,” says Brenda McGahan. “Trade shows like Outdoor Retailer prove that the message is getting through.
