Australian Wool Innovation Limited (AWI) hosted a number of seminars in Hong Kong, India, Bangladesh and Japan during September and October 2006 to educate retailers from around the world about the unique properties and new technology furthering Australian Merino wool.

The seminars included the introduction of innovative knit and woven textiles, ground-breaking technology available to treat Australian Merino wool textiles, the benefits of Merino, and new processes in place to assist in promoting the use of Australian Merino wool.

Over 600 participants from 42 companies across USA, Europe, Japan, UK and Australasia attended the seminars.

AWI Director of Development Ms Gillis Kam; who is based in Hong Kong said “it is important for AWI to continue to build relationships with top retailers and designers around the world and to ensure they are educated about and aware of the innovative technologies available that make Australian Merino wool one of the most versatile fibres in the world”.

100 percent of all attendants over the seminars requested further information on the products demonstrated at the seminar, whilst a large number also requested a repeat workshop to be held in their company headquarters.

Gillis Kam said that the seminar was very well received and that 100 percent of attendants requested to be informed of future AWI seminars and workshops.

Ms Kam noted the textiles that received the highest levels of interest were the innovative ultra light-weight Australian Merino wool; aloe-vera treated soft Merino, quick dry technology and the vintage looking Merino Retro.
