Mr van Krieken commended Dr Johnson for his focus on partnerships with industry and his emphasis on commercial outcomes.
The Textile Institute is a chartered professional organization serving the global textiles, clothing and footwear industries, with members in over 90 countries. Its mission is to promote professionalism in all areas associated with these industries.
Dr Johnson said he was honoured to receive the Award.
"Although it has faced major challenges over the past 30 years, there is now a thriving textile and fibre industry in Australasia," he said.
"I have great admiration for those in business with the vision and courage to adopt new business approaches, launch new products and develop new markets. It has been most rewarding to be involved with organisations that assist these business innovators to succeed."
