Better economic climate in particular for textile & apparel sector

According to data of the institute for economic research (ifo) , the economic climate has been developing positively since midyear for the textile and apparel industry.

In particular, the apparel sector has been content with the present state of business and is looking optimistically forward to the next six months.

The incoming orders of the textile industry registered a plus of 5 percent in August compared to the respective month of the previous year whereas the apparel industry shows a minus of 0.1 percent during the same reported month.

The total development of the first eight months of this year indicates a plus of 1.8 percent for textile and 0.1 percent for apparel.

The apparel industry continued to diminish its inland production in August by close to 20 percent in comparison to the same month of the previous year; yet, the textile industry expanded by 2.5 percent.

Nevertheless, both sectors register a decrease in the total development: Minus 2.6 percent for textile and minus 15.8 percent for apparel.

The producer's prices for textile and clothing rose slightly by 1.4 and 0.5 percent compared to the previous year's value with an increase of 1.2 percent for textile and 1.1 percent for clothing in the course of the first eight months of this year.

Both sectors show a rising turn-over for August of this year: Textile plus 3.3 percent, apparel plus 0.6 percent. In the summary for this year, however, this accounts for just a slight plus of 0.4 percent for textile and a minus of 1.3 percent for apparel.
