Replace rivalry with partnership, create a center of reference for fashion in Brazil, promote the exchange of knowledge between universities and companies, focus on products with greater added value. This is the plan for 15 large textile industries and 14 learning institutions that two years ago invested in the Santa Catarina Contemporary Fashion (SCMC) project, which intends to revolutionize the textile sector in Santa Catarina.

Santa Catarina, a state located in the south of Brazil, is the second largest textile center in Latin America with nearly 6 thousand factories and around 124 thousand people employed in the most traditional and respected companies in the sector, such as Hering, 126 years old, Karsten, 124 years old, and Buettner, 108 years old.

The idea is to transform the state into a producing center to launch trends. 'Now is the time for the competitors to unite, because in the globalized world, our greatest rival is on the other side of the world (China) and it is fierce. We must work together like a block.'

'A great victory was when the president of Karsten, a company that produces Bed, table and Bath products, visited the headquarters of its competitor, Buetner, for the first time in a century,' said Cristiano Buerger, project vice president and owner of Tecnoblu Label & Tags, specialized in notions. He explains that despite the recipe's success and of media events such as São Paulo Fashion Week, Brazilian fashion is still young, not more than 10 years old.
