A largest chemical and health care based research corporation Bayer AG announced that the company has invested around EUR 260 million in the past five years for Dormagen.

Dormagen – Dormagen is Bayer CropScience's largest production site worldwide. In the past decades, the site has been constantly extended and comprehensive investments have been made in seven modern production facilities and multi-purpose plants, including a new multipurpose facility, explained Paul Nagy, Site Manager for Bayer CropScience in Dormagen, at a media conference.

“In the past five years alone, some EUR 260 million has been invested in the site.”

A comprehensive range of herbicidal, insecticidal and fungicidal active substances and intermediates can be manufactured in Dormagen as well as precursors for internal further processing, stressed Nagy.

The best-known products include the insecticides Gaucho and Poncho, the fungicides Antracol and Euparen Multi, and Betanal, a successful herbicide for weed control in sugar beet.

Chemical Park Manager Walter Schulz underlined the importance of the site: “Bayer's Crop Protection business first started manufacturing here 43 years ago in 1962, when the first facility for the production of crop protection active ingredients went on stream. The investments made by Bayer CropScience are a clear acknowledgement of the attractiveness of our site,” said Schulz.

Bayer CropScience's Dormagen production site ispart of the company's international production network for the manufacture of active ingredients and formulations.
