Confederation of Indian Industry is organizing an International Conference on Anti Counterfeiting & Piracy in Mumbai on 23-24th of August, 2007 at Hotel Taj Mahal Colaba.
This is being spearheaded by CII National Committee of Intellectual Property (IP) Owners which held its first meeting in New Delhi on 16 August 2007 under the chairmanship of Mr. Shanker Annaswamy, Managing Director, IBM India ltd.
This Committee will strive to make India a truly 'IP savvy country' encompassing IPR Policy, Capacity development, IP Creation, Protection & Enforcement issues in India.
The objectives of the International Conference is to sensitize enforcement agencies ,to facilitate capability building in IP owners ,to exchange information and ideas that will eliminate the threat posed by counterfeiting/piracy, to strengthen cooperation between enforcement agencies and to chalk out strategies for enforcement agencies & industry action both at national & international level.
It aims to provide a Platform to mount a vigorous and long-term fight against counterfeiting/piracy through active awareness building and enhanced coordination and cooperation between the private and the public sector. This is in tandem with CII National theme for 2007 - Building people, building India.
The Conference will focus on following sectors: FMCG, Auto Components, and Drugs & Pharmaceuticals, Entertainment Sector, IT/Software Piracy.
