Italian textile machinery technology, an industry leader, will once more feature prominently at the 15th edition of ITMA, the international textile machinery exhibition to be held in Munich, Germany from September 13 to September 20, 2007.
This upcoming edition marks a record in terms of the number of total exhibitors (roughly 1,460 exhibitors hailing from 50 different countries). Italian manufacturers that will exhibit are over 370, occupying 25% of the total exhibition space.
“The high number of manufacturers exhibiting in Munich,” emphasizes Paolo Banfi, President of ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers, “testifies the recovery of the textile machinery industry presently on a global upswing."
"Statistics from the United Nations indicate that international trade in the sector increased 6% in 2006. In addition to the industry's large markets, such as China, India and Turkey, considerable investments in the textile machinery sector have also been noted in countries other than Asia.”
Italy's textile machinery industry has followed suit in this recovery phase, with production rising 5% to reach Euro 2.7 billion, while its export figures increased 4%, for a net worth of some Euro 2.1 billion.
The positive 2006 figures for Italian textile machinery sector are a consequence of a profound restructuring phase currently in course. “Italian machinery manufacturers are concentrating their efforts on innovation and a more structured presence abroad,” explains Banfi.
