The Baden-Württemberg Minister of Economic Affairs, Ernst Pfister, in his speech, highlighted the importance of medium-sized international research institutions — like the Hohenstein Institutes — for Baden-Württemberg as a business location. It would only be with their help that the region would be able to assert itself in the long term as one of the most innovative in Europe.
Pfister said in his speech that "the Hohenstein Institutes have always had their finger on the pulse of industry, and continue to do so. We know what an asset it is to have research institutes that are in touch with industry. Successful technology transfer, on which everything depends, can only succeed if industry has partners like this, constantly supporting production companies in the innovation process."
He described the Hohenstein Institutes as "the centrepiece" of the technology policy for Baden-Württemberg, which must be enabled to perform to the best of their abilities.
