PSW is a Supima licensee; has an ISO 14001 environmental management system in place and is Oekotex 100 certified as well. The laboratory is Marks & Spencer accredited.
As far as finishing is concerned, the company has a Monfortex shrinkage range, Montex stenter, Thermex E-control continuous dyeing range and a curing range (for wrinkle-free treatment) all supplied by Monforts.
India's 1st E-control:
“We were the first company to install a Monforts E-control range in India after deciding to convert from batch to continuous processing,” Mr Rajendran explained. “This turned out to be the right decision.
“In terms of yarn manufacturing, India is responsible for over 25% of the world's supply and garment manufacturing is also now strong in the country, but fabric imports account for a substantial portion of garment exporter's requirements”.
Today, following the installation of the E Control system, Monforts local representative ATE India has taken orders for more than 15 similar systems.
The integrated Monforts lines are in widths of 1.6 m. “The Monforts stenter is the machine we depend on most in our entire plant,” Mr Rajendran said.
PSW exports to Europe, primarily to Italy, Germany, Switzerland and the UK, as well as to the Middle East, Japan, and Korea.
“In the long term, sales in India should be good. Per capita consumption of clothing in India is low compared to China and other developing countries so there should be many possibilities,” he concluded.
Premier Mills Group as a whole has a higher export rate of between 80-85% as it is primarily engaged in the manufacture of cotton yarn for exports and has a total spindleage of over 300,000. But it also manufactures apparel fabric, sheeting and lingerie.
Premier Evolvics, a group company, is involved in the manufacture of textile testing equipment. Premier Mills Private Limited, the first manufacturing concern of the group, was incorporated in 1945.
