Important step to develop Quality standards by CII

British Standards Institute (BSI), the world's oldest and largest standards body and one of the world's largest certification bodies and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for working together in the area of standards and best practice, which follows co-operation in several areas, including food safety standarisation, sustainability and information security management.
New work areas between the two orgaisations will include exchange of best practice in the standards development arena to benefit the Indian businesses.
The MoU was signed by Mr. Frank Post, Communications Director-British Standards Institute Group and Mr. S K Kakkar, Head, CII Institute of Quality.
BSI's involvement in India is long standing with BSI Management systems currently employing hundred people across ten offices.
As well as the Confederation of Indian Industry, British Standards has worked closely with the Bureau of Indian Standards and the Quality Council of India, sharing information and promoting international standardisation.
Frank post said, “This agreement is an important step for both BSI and CII. BSI already provides support for a wide range of products including quality, environmental management and health & safety and we look forward to using our expertise to support the membership of CII and standardization in India.”
