Industry trends: evolution rather than revolution All in all there were no pioneering new developments to be seen at the fair. However, clear trends are apparent from the innovations on show: the emphasis is on innovations and improvements for compact machines, an expanded range of machinery with special versions for different applications and an improved price/performance ratio.
There was hardly an exhibitor who didn't present solutions for reducing energy consumption. Many presentations put greater emphasis on technology than in previous exhibitions.
Reducing energy consumption and cutting costs These dominant trends are a confirmation of Rieter Textile Systems' long-term development strategy: Rieter has focused for years on the goals of “cutting costs” and “reducing energy consumption”. Reducing specific energy consumption and boosting the price/performance ratio in particular are integral components of each new machine version.
For ITMA 2007 in Munich the data for each process stage in spinning were established and visualized for the first time. In recent years Rieter engineers have thus succeeded in reducing energy consumption per kilogram of sliver produced during combing by more than 12%.

Quality goes without saying Nowadays quality is no longer a selling point, but rather a precondition for success. Only those suppliers who offer reproducible quality and continuously improve their production processes can hold their own on the market.
One example of improved quality is the R 40 rotor spinning machine with its optimized piecing technology. The new method developed by Rieter's cooperation partner Jossi for detecting white polypropylene in the blowroom also contributes to improved quality standards.
