Furthermore there is great interest in the Oeko-Tex Standard 1000 production-related award concept, which audits and certifies both opti-mised production processes and fair social working conditions at the location con-cerned.
From the beginning of next year, the Oeko-Tex system will also cover the test parameters relevant for textiles that the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA) has fixed in its restricted substances list (RSL).
The basis for the Oeko-Tex Standard 100's wide acceptance by more than 8,000 par-ticipating companies throughout the entire textile chain is formed by constant adjust-ment of the criteria catalogue to market requirements and statutory specifications, whilst at the same time guaranteeing optimum quality of testing.
Oeko-Tex Institute directors therefore resolved to update the criteria catalogue once again on 1 January 2008. The product controls and business audits that have already proved their worth over several years will continue on the same scale.
In addition, the Oeko-Tex Association announced that it will take part in the ITB Auto-motive Seating Systems Symposium in Detroit on 4 December 2007, where it will intro-duce a certification option for vehicle interior furnishing fabrics according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100.
