Oeko-Tex will present “Textile Ecology and Oeko-Tex: Major Cornerstones for Sustainability of Our Industry” at the AATCC symposium to be held at the Renaissance Hotel in Long Beach, CA, December 12-13, 2007.

Dr. Manfred Wentz, U. S. Director for Oeko-Tex, will present “Textile Ecology and Oeko-Tex: Major Cornerstones for Sustainability of Our Industry” at the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) symposium entitled “Fashion Garment Washing: Trends, Fabrics, Technologies and Sustainability”.

Dr. Wentz, a leading authority on textile ecology and textile safety, was invited to share his expertise during the meeting session focused on environmental issues.

His presentation will inform the audience about the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification process and the role it can play in the textile, apparel, and retail industries' long term environmental sustainability efforts.

“AATCC members are very influential in the textile, apparel, and retail industries,” says Dr. Wentz. “They are in a position to review, educate and implement changes to make textiles even more environmentally friendly.

With it, the safety of textile products is maximized and their impact on the environment is further minimized. I look forward to sharing the international Oeko-Tex experience with this audience.”

Dr. Wentz has been instrumental in expanding Oeko-Tex certification in the U.S. His work with fiber and fabric makers, garment manufacturers, retailers, and industry associations has increased the eco-label's position in this country.
