Of these, 28% of the CEOs opined that the budget announcements on R&D, enhanced skilling, expanding the network of knowledge institutions and networks would definitely help India reap the benefits of knowledge-arbitrage to drive the growth momentum in the economy.

Overall, only 21% of the CEOs felt that the Union Budget 2008-09 did not meet their expectations.
CII has also released a scorecard of salient industry expectations and what the budget delivered. The high correlation explains the positive mood in industry, said the CII press release.
CII on behalf of the industry would like to place on record its deep appreciation and gratitude to the finance minister for considering many of the industry demands and for unveiling a budget that is oriented toward building people, enhancing competitiveness, providing support to the rural economy and further inclusive and sustainable growth.
