World largest retailer Wal-Mart Stores Inc will open its doors to merchandise vendors not currently doing business with the company at two supplier fairs to be held in Montreal and Quebec City on November 1 and 2. The events, which follow last year's Wal-Mart vendor fair in Toronto, are being organized by the team of experts from the World Trade Centre Montréal, a service of the Board of Trade of the Metropolitain Montreal, and by the Quebec City Chamber of Commerce.
The vendor fairs will enable companies in Quebec, and from across Canada, to develop new business relations with Wal-Mart Canada. The fairs will give primarily small and medium-sized businesses an opportunity to meet buyers from Wal-Mart Canada, demonstrate new products, and attend seminars on how to sell merchandise to the company.
"For the past 11 years Wal-Mart Canada has strived to take a leadership role in reaching out to Canadian manufacturers and suppliers," said Mario Pilozzi, President and CEO of Wal-Mart Canada. "New vendor fairs in Montreal and Quebec City will enable us to grow Canadian and Quebec supplier bases even further."
Last year alone Wal-Mart Canada did business with more than 7,000 Canadian suppliers and manufacturers and made business payments of more than $10 billion to these local companies. In Quebec, the company did business with more than 1,300 local suppliers last year to which payments of more than $1.5 billion were made.
"Very happy to welcome Wal-Mart into Large Buyers series," said Isabelle Hudon, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. "The Board of Trade and its team of experts at the World Trade Centre Montréal act as a true conveyer belt between its members and business opportunities that arise in the marketplace. Indeed, the health of economy very much relies on the vitality and growth of Montreal's manufacturing sector," Hudon concluded.
