Raymond buys finest fibre wool bale

Raymond Ltd, an India based manufacturer of wool based fabrics, for the second time in two years has managed to buy a bale of wool of the finest diameter ever offered at a wool auction sale in Melbourne.

The bale of wool was purchased by Lempriere Australia, on behalf of Raymond Ltd at a price of Au $170,000 (US $157,000). The diameter of the wool fibre is 11.4 microns. One of the finest fibres; silk has a diameter between 8-12 microns.

Earlier in June, 2008, Raymond had purchased a wool bale of 11.6 micron and in the process had outbid a host of international buyers to offer a limited edition of Super 240s suit length to its discerning global clientele.
