Staple fibre up 131%, manmade textiles exports down says SRTEPC

The Synthetic Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) presented the review of exports of synthetic and rayon (manmade) textiles during September 2005.
Export Performance Exports of Synthetic & Rayon textiles were valued Rs.686.07crores during September 2005, showing a decline of 8.48% as compared to the performance in the same month of the previous year. Exports of fabrics and made-ups are showing downfall of 18 percent and 14 percent respectively, while the exports of yarn has increased by 8 percent in September 2005.
In September 2005 the export of staple fibres has shown an exceptional growth of 131%. Fabrics constitute 49% of the total exports followed by yarn (26%), made-ups (20%) and fibre (5%). The cumulative export during April-September 2005 was Rs.3601.26crores, as against the performance of Rs.4692.31crores during April-September 2004. During April-September 2005 the export has declined by 23.25% in rupee term and 19.91% in dollar term.
Export performance during September 2005 shows a decline of 8.48% in rupee term and 3.89% in dollar terms.
Export of Polyester Filament Fabrics has declined by 26% to Rs.175.57crores in September 2005 when compared with the same month last year. Blended fabrics like polyester viscose and polyester cotton declined by 9% and 20% respectively.
The exports of Polyester Wool Fabrics which has shown a considerable fall in August 2005, has now grown by 58% to Rs.5.46crores in September 2005. Viscose Spun Fabrics has shown a considerable fall of 92% during September 2005.
