World fabric production in third quarter fell slightly below the record level of previous quarter 2005 marking however the second highest level ever recorded.
All regions experienced slowdowns. Despite a further increase in Asia the weakening of global yarn production was due to regional drops in Europe, North and South America.
Inventories of yarn on a world level continued to move up in all regions except Europe, whereas world fabric stocks contracted. Yarn and fabric orders fell in Europe but grew in Brazil.
Global yarn production declined by 1.1 percent in the Third Quarter of 2005 with regional output falling in Europe (-8.8 percent), North America (-4.9 percent) and South America (-2.1 percent).
These curtailments could not be offset by the tenth output increase in Asia (+1.4 percent).
On an annual basis, global yarn production was slightly lower (-0.2 percent), with year-on-year reductions in South and North America as well as in Europe (-12.0 percent, -7.9 percent and -3.8 percent, respectively) and a year-on-year gain in Asia (+4.2 percent).
The reduction of global fabric production by 1.9 percent in Q3 resulted from falling outputs in Europe (-5.9 percent), South America (-1.7 percent) and Asia (-1.0 percent).
Compared to the same quarter a year ago world production remained strong (+1.1 percent) with Asia leading the way (+5.9 percent) followed by North America (+1.5 percent), while South America's and Europe's output dropped by 10.3 percent and 1.3 percent, respectively.
