SkyeTek Inc the leading provider of embedded RFID solutions, announced that Tracient Technologies is leveraging SkyeTek's M9 Reader Module for its new Pad1-R UF Handheld RFID reader.

With the help of SkyeTek, Tracient's solution enables retailers to improve visibility and accuracy of inventory through more frequent and efficient cycle counting of apparel stock.

The apparel industry faces significant competition and there is an ongoing need to create supply chain efficiencies to help reduce costs.

Tracient found that by embedding the SkyeTek M9 reader module into its Pad1-R UF reader, the complete package could slash cycle count times by over 95 percent, providing more confidence in inventory levels and reducing the requirement for needless and costly stock transfers between stores.

The reader can be connected quickly to any Bluetooth enabled device, such as PDA's, cell phones, PCs, and laptops, giving these devices rapid RFID capabilities.

"With retailers having to cut inventory costs and improve the timeliness of products to the shelf to remain competitive, there is a real need for a technology like RFID to help streamline inventory processes," said Grant Pugh, CEO of Tracient.

"Our goal with our new handheld reader is to provide a lightweight, easy to use product that enables stock taking to be performed quickly and efficiently on a regular basis. SkyeTek's module stood out from other vendors we researched and enabled us to shortcut the development time of our reader by four months."
