Humayun discusses business opportunity in Pakistan at Los Angeles

To acquaint business leaders of Los Angeles with present positive environment for business in Pakistan and to promote mutual trade and investment, Pakistani Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan visited Los Angeles from Nov 29 to Dec 1 and met business and community leaders from there.

During the lunch offered by the Trade Division, Consulate-General of Pakistan, an official stated that the minister discussed the current economic and political condition in Pakistan with members of the Southern California.

He also emphasized that Pakistan wanted to build a long-term relation with companies in United States.

He underlined that the booming economy of Pakistan with approximately 150 million people offered good opportunity in trade as well as in investment segments.

He also invited business lobby to visit Pakistan to undertake a personal experience of the benefits offered by Pakistan, especially to the textile and apparel industry.

The minister also signed an MoU with the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles to build a cooperative relationship, which might comprise exchanges and collaboration between the FIDM and the premier fashion and design school in Pakistan, the Pakistan School of Fashion Design in Lahore.

Humayun also discussed the possibility of cooperation with this institution in his meeting with Dr Geoffrey Garrett, President, Pacific Council on International Policy.
