Speaking at the International Exhibition Of Textile Industry organized in Tabriz, Farshid Baqerian, an expert on Iran-Turkey economic relations said Iran and Turkey could jointly throw a challenge against China in the global textile market.
Baqerian stated that during war time, Turkey gained Iranian goodwill through trade between the two countries, but the post war era in 2000 saw trade dip at a new low.
From 2001, transformation in commercial transactions between both nations were apparent as Turkey that saw opportunity in the growing Iranian market through foreign investment participation and in privatization of Iranina industries particularly in the auto manufacturing, textile and packaging sectors, to some extent, he pointed out.
Losing a $5b Iraqi market in wake of the US-Iraq war, Turkey turned its focus towards Afghanistan via Iran to compensate a for this loss. This indeed was a right move extending further collaboration with Iran, Baqerian commented.
