Manufacturing of textiles & textile products grows in Dec

EUROSTAT released the industrial orders index for December 2005. It stated that the Industrial new orders up by 2.5 percent in euro-zone and EU25 up by 2.3 percent.

The euro-zone industrial new orders index2 rose by 2.5 percent in December 2005 compared to November 2005. The index increased by 5.3 percent in November3 and decreased by 0.5 percent in October. EU25 new orders grew by 2.3 percent in December 2005, after rises of 3.8 percent in November3 and 0.1 percent in October.

In December 2005 compared to December 2004, industrial new orders gained 7.1 percent in the euro-zone and 4.0 percent in the EU25. The average industrial new orders index for 2005, compared to 2004, increased by 4.9 percent in the euro-zone and by 4.7 percent in the EU25.

These estimates are released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities.

In December 2005 compared to November 2005, transport equipment grew by 11.5 percent in the euro-zone and by 12.0 percent in the EU25.

Manufacturing of textiles and textile products increased by 7.2 percent and 5.4 percent respectively.

Basic metals and fabricated metal products gained 4.5 percent in the euro-zone and 4.8 percent in the EU25. Manufacturing of chemicals and chemical products rose by 0.9 percent and 1.5 percent respectively. Machinery and equipment fell by 0.7 percent in the euro-zone and by 0.3 percent in the EU25.

In December 2005, and among the Member States for which data are available, total manufacturing working on orders rose in eleven Member States and fell in six. The highest rises were recorded in Malta (+16.0 percent), France (+5.3 percent), Belgium (+4.0 percent) and Sweden (+3.9 percent). The largest decreases were registered in Hungary (-31.1 percent), Latvia (-29.5 percent), Poland (-3.5 percent) and Lithuania (-3.1 percent).
