The Eurostat has released industrial producer price index, which rose by 0.4 percent in March 2006 compared with the previous month. In March 2006, EU25 prices also rose by 0.4 percent. In February3 prices increased by 0.5 percent in the euro-zone and by 0.3 percent in the EU25.
In March 2006 compared to March 2005, industrial producer prices gained 5.1 percent in the euro-zone and 6.6 percent in the EU25.
In March 2006, compared to the previous month, prices in total industry excluding the energy sector increased by 0.3 percent in both the euro-zone and the EU25. Prices in the energy sector rose by 0.8 percent and 0.7 percent respectively.
Intermediate goods gained 0.4 percent in the euro-zone and 0.5 percent in the EU25. In both zones, non-durable consumer goods increased by 0.2 percent and durable consumer goods by 0.1 percent. Capital goods rose by 0.2 percent in the euro-zone and by 0.1 percent in the EU25.
Among Member States for which data are available, the highest increases were registered in Denmark (+1.3 percent), Finland (+0.9 percent), Hungary and Sweden (both +0.8 percent). The only decreases were registered in Lithuania and the Netherlands (both -0.2 percent).
Annual changes In March 2006, compared to March 2005, and excluding the energy sector, industrial prices increased by 1.8 percent in both the euro-zone and the EU25. Prices in the energy sector rose by 17.4 percent and 23.1 percent respectively.
