An 80-member strong delegation from Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will participate in the World Economic Forum's Inaugural Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian, China, on 6th - 8th September 2007.
The delegation comprises CEOs of major Indian companies, Media and Civil Society representatives. The Indian delegation is one of the largest of all the countries participating in the Summit, and the largest from the developing world, other than the host country.
The Dalian meet will celebrate the new class of leaders and innovators – the New Champions – that have emerged and are re-shaping business and transforming society.
The changing business landscape has witnessed the growing prominence of emerging economies, the increasing power of individuals and small groups over large institutions and the stronger role of consumers over producers.
The meet is a powerful platform for interaction, cooperation, networking and exchange of ideas between the traditional and new actors, and between East and West.
The Indian contingent is part of the over 1,500 participant strong community that will be joined by international government leaders, leaders of the world's most competitive cities and the fastest growing regions and states, gurus of the Web 2.0 world, some of the most remarkable Young Global Leaders and the international media.
Members of the Indian delegation will join the discussions in the various sessions over the three days to lend an important Indian perspective to global issues ranging from innovation and IPR, science and technology, biofuels, biotechnology to skills gap, entrepreneurship and culture and characteristics and challenges of the new champions.
