Speaking at the Greek-Indian Business Forum organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Mr Petros Doukas, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Republic of Greece, said that cultural relations between India and Greece date back to over 23 centuries and currently the main issue for both the Indian and Greek companies is to find the right partner.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between SEV and CII to launch the India Greece CEOs Forum by Mr N Kumar, Past President, CII and Dr. Athanase Lavidas, Secretary General & Head of International Operations, Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV).

As the Co-Chairs from India and Greece, the two business leaders through the signing of the MoU, resolved to address issues related to barriers or disincentives faced by Greek and Indian companies in their activities in the respective markets and highlight that to the respective governments.

Post the signing, Mr Kumar opined that the signage means more co-operation in the future. Dr Lavidas said that the business communities will now move further.

Quoting Greek exports to India to be only at 15 million euros, Mr Petros Doukas said that it needs to be doubled. With a reduction in deficit from 8% to under 3% and low inflation levels, he said that the stock market has also risen.

The export growth stands at 18% with a GDP growth between 4% and 4.2%. This has rendered Greece as an attractive destination for investment.

The MoU would provide know-how and experience on the mode of functioning of the markets as well as the overall business climate. Also, it identifies opportunities for investment.
