Dr. Athanase Lavidas, Secretary General & Head of International Operations, Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) cited that, by transforming from a developing country to being a world leader in many areas, India can also boast of being one of the most dynamic economies in the world.

This has prompted foreign companies to do more business with Indian companies. He said that the two countries share a lot in common. The impressive growth of the Indian economy has also brought plenty of opportunities in its wake.

Emphasizing on the strategic geographical position of Greece, Dr Lavidas said that the Olympics infrastructure has left behind an asset. With possession of precious know-how, Greek companies have become more competitive.

Greece has partnered with Russia and Bulgaria to build a pipeline. In yet another partnership with Italy, Greece has now become an important energy hub.

He added that bilateral relations between India and Greece are at low levels and Greece should take advantage of India's ranking as one of the important business destinations in Asia.

In his welcome address, Mr Suketu Shah, past Chairman, CII and Jt. Managing Director, Mukand Ltd. said that the Greek economy is being transformed to a dynamic one.

Economic and business relations between India and Greece are on the rise. Terming Greece as an important ally for India, Mr Shah said that bilateral trade has gone from $ 136mn to $ 620 mn in 2006.
