The Mumbai-based Cotton Association of India, a trade organisation for cotton growers, traders and merchants has revealed that the domestic cotton production for 2007-08 (October to September) is expected to reach around 310 lakh bales, which represents considerable rise against 280 lakh bales of the previous year.
Total area under cotton cultivation during the period is estimated to be about 95.30 lakh hectares, slightly expanding from 91.42 lakh in 2006-07.
Exports are likely to be over 65.00 lakh bales, during the period.
