MEPS to promote handloom textile exports

For promotion of handloom textile exports, the Government of India has announced a Scheme under the name of Marketing & Export Promotion Scheme for implementation in the country during the 11th Plan.

The Scheme provides financial assistance to the handloom agencies for development of exportable handloom textile products and domestic as well as international marketing thereof.

Apart from the above scheme, the Government of India has also been implementing the following schemes for the overall development of handloom textile industry:

a) Integrated Handloom Development Scheme
b) Diversified Handloom Development Scheme
c) Handloom Weavers Comprehensive Welfare Scheme
d) Mill Gate Price Scheme

This information was given by the Minister of State for Textiles, Shri E.V.K.S. Elangovan, in the Lok Sabha, in a written reply to a question by Shri Navjot Singh Sidhu.
