Ultrapar PMD to have ethylene capacity of 1.35 mn ton/year

Chemicals maker Ultrapar Participacoes SA's wholly-owned subsidiary, has signed a contract with PMD - Project Management and Development Co, a private Saudi-Arabian company having their head-office in the industrial city of Al Jubail, for the license of technologies for the production of ethanolamines and ethoxylates.

The technologies licensed by Oxiteno will be used in the petrochemical complex located in Al Jubail, currently being built by PMD.

The plants which will use the Oxiteno technologies will have the capacities of 100,000 ton/year of ethanolamines and of 40,000 ton/year of ethoxylates.

The PMD complex to be located in Al Jubail will comprise a cracker of 1.35 million ton/year ethylene capacity, integrated with downstream process units to produce Polyethylenes, Polypropylene, Ethylene Glycols, Phenolic chain of products, Methylamines, Dimethyl Formamide, Choline Chloride, Ethanolamines and Ethoxylates.

This contract represents the recognition of the outstanding level of technology achieved by Oxiteno in the business of chemistry.

Brazilian firm Ultrapar is engaged in distribution of LPG, production of chemicals and logistics services for chemical products and fuels.

The company currently employs more than 6,500 people, operating in Brazil and Mexico. Its LPG operation is present in every state, excluding the Amazon region, reaching more than 10.5 million homes.
