Leather goods maker & retailer Hidesign begins Indian inning

Leading leather goods maker and retailer Hidesign plans to increase its brand “do-it-yourself” (DIY) in India. The company recently opened its first outlet in Bangalore's Garuda Mall.

Further, the company is likely to open a store each, at Mumbai and Delhi.

Dilip Kapur, President of Hidesign informed that the company will open six more stores in the coming one and a half year period.

Hidesign is going to offer customers, facility to browse through its library containing 1,000 styles, over 100 different leathers, combination and design that can be chosen by each visitor.

Calling Bangalore as one of the most stylist and fashionable city of India, Kapur opined the city was a natural choice for the company to open its first store.

Bangalore store format is akin to one in Batuta Mall, Dubai, which the company opened as a test overseas, and met with resounding success.

The company presently owns stores in Hong Kong, South Africa, the US and West Asia and has taken up space in well-known international retail outlets like Selfridges, Fraser, Harrods and John Lewis.

Last year, the Company registered a turnover of Rs 84 crore. This year, it is targeting 60 percent higher turnover than previous year's sales as more stores open in key north Indian cities.
