New York City based largest family footwear retailer Payless ShoeSource Inc announced school soon-to-be in, kids want to be "in" too, wearing the latest fashion trends of the season. Back-to-school season is all about having the right stuff and the right style from notebooks, pens and pencils, and lunch items to clothing and shoes, backpacks and accessories.
"Shoes may be the last thing kids put on, but it's one of the first things they think about when heading back-to-school," said Jack Guze, head of women's buying for Payless ShoeSource. "Many kids and adults alike has create their personal look starting with the shoes and stylizing around them. Shoes are a critical accessory and this year there is no shortage of unique and fresh styles to choose from."
Guze noted that fashion moves fast, especially among youth. What's in one month is out the next, he said. "Fast fashion at Payless is smart," Guze pointed out. "Payless allows parents and kids to get all the latest on-trend styles and not spend a lot of money doing it."
Guze said that key trends for back-to-school include:
Silhouettes - track flats, moccasins, mary janes, slip-on wedges, and boots such as "slouch" boots, desert boots, harness/riding boots, and fur-trimmed boots.
Colors - hues of brown and tan and a range of shades of blue and green.
Materials - corduroy, suede, quilted metallics, and athletic mesh and nylon.
Details - folkloric embroidery, fur trim, and lacing. Argyle treatments on canvas uppers and interior footbeds will also be important.
