Textured polyester maker Unifi Inc announced it will close its Central Distribution Center in Mayodan, North Carolina and move its operations to its warehouse and logistics facilities in Yadkinville, North Carolina.
This change, which is expected to be completed by December 2005, will eliminate 19 positions and will relocate approximately 60 positions to Yadkinville.
"Their recent success in reducing inventories allows us to centralize and maximize the overall efficiency of their warehousing and logistics operations, which will be accomplished with little cost to the organization," said Bill Lowe, Chief Operating Officer and CFO for Unifi. "They will continue to look for ways to maximize their efficiencies, while at the same time staying focused on profitable growth initiatives."
North Carolina based Unifi Inc, founded in 1971, is one of the world's largest producers and processors of textured polyester and nylon yarn found in apparel, home furnishings, automotive fabrics, upholstery and legwear.
