Worsted suiting fabric maker Raymond informed that the company is planning to invest over Rs 100 crore in South Gujarat. The figure may go up to over Rs 250 crore in the next few years.

The Rs 2,000 crore Raymond Group has already acquired land for setting up an integrated textile unit including weaving and processing unit in Vapi in Valsad district.

The company's new facility for worsted suiting facility at Vapi will manufacture 3m metres of worsted suiting fabric, taking its total installed capacity to 28m metres by early next year.

The company executive stated that this will enable Raymond to cater to the increasing demand for its high quality wool based suiting both in the international and domestic markets.

The company executives however refused to comment on any new investment. With an installed capacity of 25m metres and a 60 percent market share in India, Raymond is today one of the largest integrated producers of worsted suiting fabric in the world.

The Vapi plant will be the company's fourth after three plants located in Thane, Chindwara..

Apart from Raymond Group, two other companies have announced their investment in Valsad. Gujarat Heavy Chemicals (GHCL) has already announced an investment of Rs 220 crore in the district. GHCL is in the process of setting up a weaving unit with a capacity of 13,000 metric tonnes in Umargam. The two big textiles units will boost the economy in Valsad.

Menswear maker Raymond is the leader in textiles, apparel, & files & tools in India and enjoys a pronounced position in the international market. Raymond believes in Excellence, Quality and Leadership.
