New petro zone by CNOOC will crack ethylene & p-xylene

A new 12 million tons per annum refining project solely funded by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) named Nanhai Petrochemical was opened with a groundbreaking ceremony on December 15, 2005.

The ceremony was followed with the statrt of construction in Petrochemical Zone of Daya Bay Economic and Technology District, Huizhou, Guangdong province.

To be contructed at the cost of RMB19.3 billion, project which will manufacture gasoline, kerosene, diesel oil, and raw material for ethylene cracking (1.5 million tons per annum), p-xylene (800000 tons per annum) etc will be completed and conducted for wet commissioning in June 2008.

Heavy heavy crude oil with high offshore acid-content will be processed at this 12 million tons per annum processing facility.
