According to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro, Chinese fabric exports to India reached $442.863 million in January-March 2024. Yarn was the second most important textile product, with Chinese exports to India valued at $198.331 million, representing 29 per cent of the total. Fibre shipments from China amounted to just $42.805 million in the same period, making up 6.26 per cent of the total.
Chinese fabric exports to India exhibited an 8.79 per cent growth compared to the $407.090 million exported in January-March 2023. However, yarn shipments plummeted by 43.23 per cent in January-March 2024, down from $349.329 million in the same period last year. Fibre exports from China to India also declined by 23.63 per cent from $56.052 million in January-March 2023.
In 2023, China's total textile exports to India reached $3,594.384 million, slightly lower than the $3,761.854 million shipped in 2022.
Fabric was a prominent textile product, with China exporting $1,973.938 million worth of it to India in 2023, representing 54.92 per cent of the total. Yarn shipments were valued at $1,409.318 million (39.21 per cent), and fibre exports were $211.128 million (5.87 per cent) last year, as per TexPro.
However, fabric, the leading textile product, saw a 6.21 per cent decrease in Chinese shipments to India compared to the $2,104.681 million traded in 2022.
