According to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro, Germany’s imports of industrial textiles from China stood at $12.702 million, which accounted for 12.22 per cent of its total imports of $103.937 million in January 2024. Among the top five suppliers, Switzerland's share was 10.04 per cent, Italy 9.07 per cent, Poland 9.07 per cent, and Luxembourg 8.60 per cent.
In 2022, Germany imported industrial textiles worth $1,329.957 million. Of this trade, imports from China were valued at $137.687 million (10.35 per cent), Italy at $130.467 million (9.81 per cent), Poland at $124.963 million (9.40 per cent), Luxembourg at $120.703 million (9.08 per cent), and Switzerland at $118.308 million (8.90 per cent).
In 2022, Germany’s imports of industrial textiles were valued at $1,269.924 million, while imports from top supplier China stood at $175.628 million, which was 13.83 per cent of the total. Imports from Italy were $131.059 million (10.32 per cent), Poland $119.039 million (9.37 per cent), Switzerland $109.078 million (8.59 per cent), and the Netherlands $81.569 million (6.42 per cent).
In January 2024, the US was the primary market for Germany’s exports of industrial textiles, with shipments valued at $17.539 million, representing 7.20 per cent of Germany’s total exports of $243.733 million during this period. Shipments to Poland were worth $16.580 million (6.80 per cent), Italy $14.247 million (5.85 per cent), China $13.377 million (5.49 per cent), and France $12.488 million (5.12 per cent), as per TexPro.
Germany exported industrial textiles worth $2,698.541 million in 2023. Poland was the top market, with shipments worth $189.782 million, which accounted for 7.03 per cent of the total. Shipments to the US were $183.727 million (6.81 per cent), Italy $167.024 million (6.19 per cent), China $148.769 million (5.51 per cent), and France $135.123 million (5.01 per cent).
On the other hand, outbound shipments from Germany were valued at $2,639.501 million in 2022. The top five markets were the US, with $206.357 million (7.82 per cent), Poland with $193.748 million (7.34 per cent), China with $182.814 million (6.93 per cent), Italy with $163.408 million (6.19 per cent), and France with $132.550 million (5.02 per cent).
