According to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro, the share of cotton-based home textiles was minimal compared to MMF products. The inbound shipment of cotton home textiles was just $28.785 million, representing 14.87 per cent of the total. The import of wool/animal hair products from the country was $4.172 million (2.16 per cent) during the first two months of the current year. Around 8.22 per cent of products imported by the US from Turkiye were made from other types of fibres.
Last year, the import of MMF home textiles from Turkiye was $783.996 million, making up 71.31 per cent of the US’ total home textile imports of $1,099.425 million from the partner country. The shipment of cotton-based home textiles was $205.015 million (18.65 per cent), wool/animal hair $33.903 million (3.08 per cent), and others $76.509 million (6.96 per cent), as per TexPro.
During the first two months of 2024, floor imports from Turkiye were valued at $154.940 million, accounting for 80.06 per cent of the total imports. Among the top five home textile products, the imports of bathroom and kitchen textiles were $26.642 million (13.77 per cent), bed textiles $2.779 million (1.44 per cent), window textiles $2.626 million (1.36 per cent), and made-ups $2.012 million (1.04 per cent).
Last year, floor imports were $833.147 million, which was 75.78 per cent of the total imports. Among the top five home textile products, the imports of bathroom and kitchen textiles were $167.034 million (15.19 per cent), bed textiles $41.608 million (3.78 per cent), window textiles $17.882 million (1.63 per cent), and sacks and bags $12.072 million (1.10 per cent).
