All these industries are expected to account for 45.8 to 46.8 percent of the region's gross industrial making value by 2010, with the engineering-mechanics segment alone beset to account for 27.5-28.5 percent of the total.
Region 3 consisting of 10 coastal regions in the central area, and is oriented at developmening agricultural, forest and seafood processing industries, oil refining and petrochemicals, shipbuilding, machinery production, construction materials, and garments and foot-wear.
The policy calls for basic industries to account for 24 to 25 percent of the zone's gross industrial production value, with the petrochemical sector to account for a 19 to 20 percent share.
Region 4 consists of four Central Highlands regions, which are to target on developing hydro-electricity, agro-forestry, seafood processing, and mineral exploitation and processing.
The strategy calls for targeting on aluminum ore processing; citing the large-scale aluminium oxide consortium in Dak Nong region planned to soon begin work.
Region 5 includes eight cities and regions in the south-east Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta area, and the strategy calls on development to be centred on oil and gas, electricity, agricultural, forestry and seafood processing industries, and stressing on industrial machinery, electronics, software, chemicals and pharmaceutical production, with the intention of growing the ratio of processing industries to 56.6 to 57.6 percent of the region's gross industrial production value.
Besides developing the export-oriented garment and footwear sectors, the province will also target on the expansion of hi-tech and knowledge-based sectors to steadily reduce the zone's dependence on blue-collar industries, according to the strategy.
