Nanocomp Technologies Inc, a developer of next-generation performance materials announced that Mark A. Banash has joined the company as vice president of engineering. He will manage process scale-up, quality control and manufacturing engineering involving Nanocomp's carbon nanotube yarn and sheet products.

Banash brings a comprehensive background in process development, industrial research, formulation science, quality control and assurance, chemical manufacturing and customer service.

Nanocomp is the only company to produce both multi-functional nonwoven sheet and yarn textiles from long, pure, single-wall carbon nanotubes. The materials are lightweight, strong and efficiently conduct both electricity and heat. Potential applications include body armor, structural composites, energy storage and electronics thermal management.

“We've proven that we can rapidly produce long carbon nanotubes in ready-to-use yarn and sheet formats and we are getting feedback from the market that these products appear to be quite useful in several industries, ranging from aerospace to telecommunications to clean energy storage and delivery,” said Peter Antoinette, president and CEO of Nanocomp Technologies.

“Now, as our focus shifts from the research stage towards building out a manufacturing operation, we are engaged in developing the right systems to both scale up production and ensure consistent product quality. Mark Banash's strong track record in nanotech manufacturing and quality assurance will help us achieve these goals, and we're pleased to welcome him to our growing team.”
