Trump hailed the deal as a historic step that will strengthen the transatlantic alliance “for many years to come” and confirmed that the UK was chosen as the first announcement due to its “long-time history and allegiance” with the US.
“This should be a very big and exciting day for the United States of America and the United Kingdom. Press Conference at The Oval Office, 10A.M. Thank you!” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
"The agreement with the United Kingdom is a full and comprehensive one that will cement the relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom for many years to come. Because of our long time history and allegiance together, it is a great honor to have the United Kingdom as our FIRST announcement. Many other deals, which are in serious stages of negotiation, to follow!” he said in another post.
Trump added that “many other deals” are in advanced stages of negotiation. This aligns with recent remarks by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who said that trade pacts with several top US partners could be announced soon. The administration is reportedly negotiating with 17 major trading nations.
