Vietnam will reduce its value-added tax (VAT) rate to 8 per cent for a range of goods and services.

The country’s National Assembly decided that the 2-per cent VAT reduction will take effect from July 1 and continue till December 31, 2026.

The reduction will not apply to telecommunications, finance, banking, securities, insurance, real estate, metal products, mineral resources (excluding coal) and items subject to special consumption tax (excluding petrol), a domestic news agency said.
