FineLine Technologies announced that it has been selected by Burlington Coat Factory to become the retailer's exclusive provider of price tickets, tags and labels for all of its stores.
Prior to naming FineLine as its supplier, Burlington had produced all of its own tickets, tags and labels an effort which required a significant commitment of management and personnel as well as a substantial investment in printers and related hardware.
Burlington printed its own tickets and either applied them to its merchandise at its own distribution centers or shipped the tickets to its vendors to be applied to the merchandise prior to delivery to Burlington.
During the second half of 2006 through a series of meetings with FineLine representatives, the Burlington management team evaluated the cost/benefits of outsourcing its ticketing program and ultimately selected FineLine as its provider.
In connection with the transition to FineLine, the two companies worked closely together to develop a state of the art system for ordering and managing the merchandise ticketing process.
A proprietary system customized for Burlington has been developed which fully integrates Burlington's purchase order system with a web-based ticket ordering system developed by FineLine.
The result of the new system is that FineLine has the capability of producing merchandise tickets in real time using data from purchase orders placed by Burlington buyers.
Tickets are produced and shipped to Burlington or its vendors from FineLine facilities in the U.S Hong Kong and China. In addition to improving quality control over ticketing and accelerating turnaround times, the new system provides powerful tools for Burlington and its vendors for tracking and managing the ticketing process.
