The organizers of the IMB Forum 2007 are this year for the first time devoting a special section to research & development, where universities and colleges from around the world will have an opportunity to present themselves and their research activities.

In particular, this section will focus on research concerned with innovation and new technology in the field of technical textiles as well as their processing and use. As such, it will offer a perfect accompaniment to the exhibition and lecture program, as well as provide exhibitors and visitors with a unique opportunity to learn all about the latest research and the everyday practicability of new and innovative applications.

Seven establishments of higher education, including universities from Portugal, Slovenia, and China, have already confirmed their participation in this special R&D show.

Other participants of the R&D show include the Institute of Textiles and Clothing Technology from the Technical University of Dresden, which will be presenting a protective suit for work under high voltage as well as a selection of electrically conductive textiles.

The TU Dresden stand will also showcase 3D-spacer fabric for use in water disinfection and workpiece holders for rotor-preform manufacturing. Exhibits from the Research Institute for Textiles and Clothing (FTB) at the University of the Niederrhein will include developments in the fields of intelligent textiles and clothing, nanotechnology, and RFID technology.
