Secondly, international players have set up wool processing centers in China and prefer to garb domestic produce. This has widened the supply and demand gap even further.
An issue worth concerning is that wool processing is easily to bring more serious environmental pollutions. During wool cleaning, it will produce wool wax, alkylphenols, pesticides residues and other harmful substances. Therefore a slight negligence will vulnerably lead to an ecological pollution in geographical environment.
Due to the backward processing technologies of most domestic enterprises as well as lacking the awareness of environmental protection, some of these hazardous wastes are indiscriminately discharged with little or even without treatment, bringing serious harm to ecological environment.
In June this year, due to the outbreak of cyanobacteria in Tai Lake basin, about 50 percent of wool washing capacity around Tai Lake were closed for limited time or reduced production. The processing capacity concentrated in the Tai Lake area is accounting for around 70 percent of country's total capacity.
