Cotton yarn prices in north India remained unchanged due to slow demand and ongoing payment constraints. The intermediary textile product was traded at previous levels in both Delhi and Ludhiana markets. According to market experts, the recent US tariff imposition against India and the uncertainty surrounding a trade deal have dampened buyer sentiment across the cotton yarn segment. A chain reaction is visible across the entire textile value chain.

Cotton yarn prices in the Delhi market hovered close to previous levels. Spinning mills have refrained from reducing selling prices despite a payment crisis and subdued demand. A trader from the Delhi market told Fibre2Fashion, “Slow demand has already choked market liquidity. US tariff concerns have further dampened buying interest in cotton yarn. Buyers across the textile value chain are hesitant to place orders under the current uncertain market conditions.”

In Delhi, 30 count combed knitting yarn was traded at ₹259-260 (approximately $2.96-2.97) per kg (GST extra), 40 count combed at ₹284-285 (approximately $3.24-3.25) per kg, 30 count carded at ₹233-235 (approximately $2.66-2.68) per kg, and 40 count carded at ₹258-260 (approximately $2.94-2.97) per kg today.

The Ludhiana market also witnessed stability in cotton yarn prices. The market continues to face payment constraints due to sluggish movement of goods in the value chain. Trade sources noted that the tariff issue has weakened buyer interest in new deals, as confidence in downstream demand remains low. However, traders remain hopeful that India and the US will be able to reach a bilateral trade agreement.

In Ludhiana, 30 count cotton combed yarn was sold at ₹255-265 (approximately $2.91-3.02) per kg (inclusive of GST); 20 and 25 count combed yarn were traded at ₹245-255 (approximately $2.80-2.91) per kg and ₹250-260 (approximately $2.85-2.97) per kg, respectively; and carded yarn of 30 count was noted at ₹235-240 (approximately $2.68-2.74) per kg today, according to trade sources.

Recycled yarn prices remained stable in the Panipat market. Traders stated that demand for recycled yarn remained weak across northern and eastern regions. However, there is optimism regarding an uptick in demand ahead of the festive season. Apart from export orders, upcoming domestic festive demand is expected to support the recycled yarn market. Prices of recycled polyester fibre and comber also held steady.

In Panipat, 10s recycled PC yarn (Grey) was traded at ₹74-77 (approximately $0.84-0.88) per kg (GST paid). Other varieties and counts were noted at 10s recycled PC yarn (Black) at ₹57-60 (approximately $0.65-0.68) per kg, 20s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹100-102 (approximately $1.14-1.16) per kg and 30s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹130-135 (approximately $1.48-1.54) per kg. Cotton comber prices were noted at ₹100-102 (approximately $1.14-1.16) per kg and recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) at ₹75-79 (approximately $0.86-0.90) per kg today.

Cotton prices in north India remained steady, albeit with a sharp fall in trading volume. Traders said private ginners and stockists held very limited stocks, which have further reduced over the past few weeks. As a result, cotton trade activity has become negligible across north Indian states. Stakeholders are now focused on the upcoming harvest. The current condition of the cotton crop in north India is reported to be excellent.

North India’s cotton arrivals reduced to negligible. Stocked cotton is being traded in north India. Cotton prices in Punjab ranged from ₹5,960 to ₹5,970 (approximately $68.02–68.13) per maund of 37.2 kg; in Haryana, ₹5,730–5,850 (approximately $65.39–66.76; in upper Rajasthan, ₹6,000–6,020 (approximately $68.47–68.70). In lower Rajasthan, prices stood at ₹55,300–₹57,300 (approximately $631.09–653.92) per candy of 356 kg.
