In keeping with one of the key initiatives of this week's PGA Tour event, the AT&T National, the TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company (TMaG) and its participating Tour Staff professionals will pay tribute to U.S. Armed Forces before and during the competition.

On Tuesday, July 3rd at 3 p.m. at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Maryland, TMaG Tour Staff pro Fred Funk is scheduled to co-host a golf clinic for the USO of Metropolitan Washington.

Funk, a local favorite, was born in Maryland, won the Maryland State Open twice, attended the University of Maryland and later coached the golf team there from 1982 through 1988.

Fred's co-host will be Woodmont Country Club head professional Wayne DeFrancesco, who is also an emeritus member of TMaG's golf professional advisory board.

Also on July 3rd, several members of TMaG's Tour Staff will visit with patients at the National Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.

Additionally, during tournament competition on Thursday and Sunday, participating TMaG pros will salute our troops by wearing special edition adidas Golf POWERBAND footwear featuring camouflage highlights, and participating caddies will wear r7 trooper hats. A small quantity of shoes were created and will not be available for sale.

"The AT&T National has expressed a desire to annually recognize and honor our Armed Forces, and we at TaylorMade-adidas Golf want to join in and show our own support for the brave men and women who serve," said Bob Maggiore, senior director of brand marketing for adidas Golf.

"Facilitating the clinic and the hospital visit, as well as creating the special footwear and hats, is our small way of acknowledging the huge service that our soldiers perform for our country."
