Soles4Souls Inc, the international charity dedicated to providing free footwear to people in desperate need, is partnering with World Vision to provide thousands of summer shoes to homeless families in shelters in this nation's lowest income Congressional district, the South Bronx.

At least 500 children and their families will receive a new pair of summer shoes during World Vision and Soles4Souls' first joint summer celebration at the Storehouse of World Vision. This event will distribute footwear from a 15,000 pair donation made to World Vision by Soles4Souls and will provide summer shoes for children and their families being assisted by the Citizens' Advice Bureau (CAB), SEBCO Development Inc and East Side Settlement House.

"World Vision is very pleased to partner with Soles4Souls in the South Bronx, to help so many young people enjoy their summer just a bit more," said Rahsaan Graham, executive director of domestic programs for World Vision. "We are excited about bringing smiles to more children with Soles4Souls, here in the U.S. and globally."

World Vision is a Christian relief and development organization dedicated to helping children and their communities worldwide reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty. World Vision serves the world's poor regardless of a person's religion, race, ethnicity, or gender.

"We at Soles4Souls are delighted to partner with World Vision in the South Bronx and hope that our donation willhelp make these families' summer more enjoyable, and certainly more comfortable," said Wayne Elsey, founder and CEO of Soles4Souls. "We look forward to making a difference in the South Bronx, both through this event and many more to come."

The idea behind gifts of shoes is nothing new to the Soles4Souls team, as they coordinated relief efforts for the Asian Tsunami and Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, netting over 1 Million pairs donated for these disasters.

Soles4Souls has sent more than 2.5 Million pairs of shoes to people in over 30 countries around the world through donations from footwear companies, retailers, churches, nonprofit ministries, civic groups, schools, and individuals.
