Sportswear company BasicNet SpA has signed a licensing agreement for the distribution of its Kappa and Robe di Kappa brand glasses in continental Europe with Licefa GmbH & Co KG, a German group that has been operating in the optics and glasses frame production sector since 1947.
The agreement with Licefa will be valid for an initial period of three years with the option to renew it for a further three years and guarantees minimum sales for the first period of the contract of €4.5 million.
The partnership with Licefa is an important step towards developing new products for the Kappa (technical sportswear and accessories) and Robe di Kappa (casualwear) brands, and it will make an important contribution to further increasing recognition of the brands on European markets through important investments in communication aimed at the end consumer.
“Licefa is becoming part of our licensor network,” said Franco Spalla, BasicNet CEO, “and will reproduce our business model for apparel and footwear, which is already active through similar partnership agreements in more than 100 countries, on a European level and limited to a specific category of products.”
The recently concluded licence agreements aimed at expanding BasicNet brands to Mexican and Egyptian markets are also part of this general strategy.
In particular, BasicNet signed a new agreement with the company Impulso Deportivo SA de CV to develop the Kappa, Robe di Kappa and Lanzera brands in Mexico with minimum guaranteed sales of more than 20 million dollars over the five years of the agreement. Impulso Deportivo puts its significant experience in distribution of apparel on the Mexican market and its strong ties in the worlds of sport and fashion at the service of the Kappa and Robe di Kappa brands.
